Big Bass Studio: a fishing sim that earns your patience

I usually bounce off fishing games within minutes, so Big Bass Studio had a low bar to clear. It cleared it and kept going. The moment that won me over was my first real fight with a bigger fish, where I had to ease off the reel and let the line settle instead of yanking like an idiot. The controls deserve most of the credit. Casting is a swipe, and the arc genuinely responds to how hard you flick, so aiming for a spot near the reeds feels deliberate. Reeling is a hold with little tugs, and the tension meter tells you when to back off. Once the rhythm clicks it's almost meditative. Progression never nags you. You unlock new lakes and rods at a steady clip, and the little studio hub you decorate gives you a reason to keep coming back. Nothing here demands you grind for hours to enjoy the next thing. My one gripe is that a couple of the later lakes look similar to earlier ones. But honestly, for a calm five-minutes-at-a-time game, Big Bass Studio is one of the nicer surprises I've had this year.

If you like games that reward attention over reflexes, give it a proper hour before judging it.
